So still planning to finish the river drawing im working on that I have put on hold. I started it when I was just first learning how to use Corel Painter, and I made the mistake of putting everything on one layer. At the time I wasnt sure how to take part of a layer, move it to a new layer. That way I can finish the sky, lock the layer, and not have where the sky and horizon meet and up all muddied from accidents later on. Makes everything much clearer, not to mention when you think of it as smaller bits and progressively add detail instead of trying to tackle the detail all at once its much easier and a whole lot less frustration. Right now

River Project

0 min read
So I am currently working on a digital painting of either the South or North Saskatchewan River at a ferry crossing. I really can't remember which or even the ferry crossing location as this picture the painting is based off of something that was taken sometime in 2007. This is the first time I have attempted to draw rippling water, bubbles, debris, and reflections with an oil style brush. I first made the mistake of trying to add in a lot of detail piece by piece. I have since changed my approach, adding in large blocks of colour and adding detail in, in multiple passes with each pass getting more complex. So far that method is working well,
